TECHNICAL TRIP TO TEK-BAL MEDICAL DEVICES COMPANY

A technical trip to Tek-Bal Medical Devices company was organized by The Department of Economics, on Thursday, May 2.  The students toured the production facilities of ​​the company, which is the leading autoclave manufacturer and exporter in the sector with 41 years of experience, and they were informed about the autoclave machine and export processes by the company's managerial staff.

“ECONOMICS GRADUATE CONVERSATION”

An event titled "Economics Graduate Conversation" was held by the Department of Economics on Monday, May 23, 2022, with our 2013 graduate Gizem Woods as the speaker. The online event where Gizem Woods, who works as a financial reporting specialist at the headquarters of Zurich Insurance, shared her experiences, and gave career-oriented advice to our students, was moderated by Deputy Head of the Department of Economics Assist. Prof. Dr. Merve Hamzaoğlu. 

“THE NEAR FUTURE OF THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY” CONVERSATION

A conversation titled “The Near Future of the Automotive Industry” was held by the Department of Economics on Wednesday, May 11,2022, at the Basın Ekspres Campus conference hall and, simultaneously via CATS online. Citroen Turkey Marketing Director Zeynep Durusu attended the event as a speaker, in which Assist. Prof. Merve Hamzaoğlu, Deputy Head of the Department of Economics was the moderator. In the conversation, the situation of the automotive industry in the world and in Turkey, the effects of the pandemic and the expectations for the future in the industry were discussed.

“WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GLOBAL MARKETS? WHAT WILL HAPPEN?” SEMINAR

The Department of Economics held a seminar on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Basın Ekspres Campus Conference Hall. Tahsin Aygün, CEO of Marbling Financial Group, who attended the event as a speaker, made a presentation on the historical outlook and future projections of global inflation. The megatrends that may arise in the future in the financial markets were also discussed with the active participation of the participants.

EPIDEMIC AND DIFFICULT TIMES: WOMEN AND INFORMAL WORKERS

The Department of Economics organized a webinar titled “Epidemic and Difficult Times: Women and Informal Workers” on Friday, May 21, 2021. In the event, where Assoc. Prof. Hasan Bakır from Uludağ University was the speaker, the structural issues of the labour market in Turkey were discussed in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Res. Assist. Derya Zayim, one of the academic staff of the Department of Economics, was the moderator of the event.

"MEGA TRENDS IN FUTURE FINANCIAL MARKETS"

The Department of Economics organized an e-seminar titled "Mega Trends in the Financial Markets of the Future" on Friday, May 7, 2021. Tahsin Aygün, CEO of Marbling Group, who participated in the event as a speaker, made a presentation on the mega trends that may arise in the future in financial markets. The sectors that are likely to become a trend in the financial markets were discussed in the event, in which students actively participated.

"POST-COVID-19 CLIMATE CHANGE AND SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION"

In cooperation with the Department of Economics and the Economy Club, an e-seminar titled "Post-COVID-19 Climate Change and Social Transformation" was held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 19.45. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Investment Advisor and Economist Assoc. Prof. Barış Karapınar attended the event as a speaker and discussed climate change in general.
